Club History

The club began dancing on December 29, 1964 in Webster, Texas. The first caller was Carl Miller of Pasadena, Texas. The club moved to the Clear Lake City Recreation Center and Bob Baier became the club caller in 1975, and remains so today. Bob is a nationally and world-wide known caller, who calls approximately 24-26 dances a year. We have guest callers on the remaining Saturday evenings. Round dancing is enjoyed prior to and between tips at some dances. The club changed locations in 2004 to the Gilruth Center at the Johnson Space Center and then in 2009 to the Bay Area Presbyterian Church in Webster. We have our special dance on the first Saturday in August known as the ‘Luau’, which we started having in 1977 and continue to have each year.

The Luau is an annual event which began in 1977, at the suggestion of Homer Markos and is held the first Saturday in August. Check out our Photo Gallery Page for LUAU Pictures. Anniversary dances are held every five years and specials are planned periodically.
